Camp programs are designed for the developmental ages indicated, with safety, interest, and spiritual/emotional development in mind. Your child will enjoy and benefit from a week of camp designed for them, with friends of similar age. Thank you for registering for the appropriate camp week.

Camp ends at 4:45 pm on Friday afternoon. Please pick your camper up at this time.

• BEFORE YOU COME, make sure you are listed on the camper pick-up form and that you bring the card you were given at registration. For safety reasons, your camper will not be released to you unless you are on that list and have that card. IF the pick-up person changes please let us know early (office number 540-399-1022).

• COME IN AT THE FRONT GATE, then drive slowly down to the camp. You will be directed where to park. After parking, proceed to the cabins to pick up your camper.

• BEFORE YOU LEAVE, GO TO THE SNACK SHACK PAVILION TO…

- Pick up your child’s medications from the first-aid provider

- Check the lost and found table

- Visit the snack shack/camp store one last time

• PLEASE mark all clothing and belongings with your camper’s name. Use a permanent marker on disposable cameras, towels, toiletries, water bottles, etc., before you arrive!

• Lost and Found items not requested within two weeks will be given away.

• Camp Red Arrow is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

• We do not mail found items back to the campers unless arrangements are made for the recipient to cover postage. Otherwise, the items may be picked up at the camp. You can make arrangements by calling the camp office at (540) 399-1022.

Campers love to receive mail! Mail is delivered to campers each day at lunch.

To contact your camper, feel free to send a letter (or letters) via “snail mail” or "email". Please include the full name of your camper and cabin number on all letters. We have found that email is the best way to insure that your camper will receive your mail. If using email, emails must be received by 11 AM in order to arrive in time for the daily mail delivery.

NOTE: the above list of "What Not to Bring" is for the safety and enjoyment of all the campers.

We ask that clothing be modest, comfortable and loose fitting with all shorts and skirts reaching the top of the knee. Tank tops, halter tops, low cut, sleeveless shirts, or shirts revealing the midriff are not allowed. T-shirts should not contain offensive language or images. We ask that girls bring a modest one-piece swimsuit.

• We find that cell phones can distract from our busy camp program as well as be a possible safety issue. We want campers to "unplug from screen time and get plugged into God and the great outdoors!"

• So, in order to minimize distractions and possible safety issues, campers will not be allowed to have their cell phones or tablets during their stay at camp. They can either leave their devices at home with you or they can leave their phones with our office staff. If your camper chooses to leave their device(s) with our staff, please place them in a zip-lock bag marked with the camper’s name. Cell phones/tablets left with our office staff will have them returned to the camper just before pickup time.

• IF there is an emergency, we will contact you or allow your camper to use the office phone to call you.

We highly encourage sending mail to send a message to your camper. Most campers look forward to receiving mail at our daily lunch-time mail delivery. We do discourage phone calls, unless it is an emergency. Phone calls can be very distracting and there just isn’t enough time for calls in our busy schedule. IF there is an emergency on your part, then you will be able to get in touch with your child by calling our main office number: (540) 399-1022. And IF your child needs to get in touch with you, they can get permission by talking to their counselor or other adult staff member.

Campers will have daily opportunities to shop in our camp snack shack/store. The snack shack is open twice a day. It offers a wide variety of snacks and drinks … healthy and “junky”. We also strive to stock pre-packaged snacks for campers with food allergies. We limit campers to 2 snack/drink choices at each scheduled snack time in order to avoid over-indulgence. Most items are $1. Any money you put on your camper’s snack shack account will be placed on a snack card that they will have access to at the appropriate times … no need to worry about lost/stolen cards.

The camp store is open once a day and also offers a wide range of affordable items from forgotten toiletries to stuffed animals and toys to T-shirts and hoodies. There are items for all budgets. Prices start at $1. Your camper’s snack card also works in the camp store.

To avoid lost or stolen money, we strongly encourage you to put all the money on the snack card that you think your camper will need for the week. It is best if your camper does not keep extra money in their pockets or luggage as it is too easy to lose. IF more money is needed, the office can get a message to you and ask if you want more added. Before the end of the week, each camper will have the option of using their balance for last minute purchases or a donation to the summer mission program. For simplified bookkeeping there will be no refunds of any unused balance, so please don't add too much to their account. A good starting point for a camper who is just getting 1 snack and 1 drink per snack time without any extra shopping is $16.

Camp Red Arrow counselors are with their camper groups at all times. In addition to providing the required supervision of each and every camper, these counselors also work diligently to engage your camper in conversation and activities. They enhance your child’s camp experience by encouraging participation in a wide range of activities. Besides the counselors, there are many other trained staff members either working with your camper at various points throughout the day or working behind the scenes to make sure your camper is safe, fed and well-taken care of.

Lake: We have a 3-acre lake with various boats and canoes available. We require the staff and campers to wear life jackets while participating in these activities. We also offer opportunities for fishing from the shore.

Pool: We have a 100,000-gallon pool that goes from 3 feet to over 12 feet. All campers swimming in the deep end must pass a swimming test. We have trained lifeguards on duty during swim time.

Most of our counselors and staff members have CPR and first aid training. We also have a trained dedicated First-Aid Provider that handles the dispensing of all medications & supplements as well as responds to all emergencies.

Please Note: All camper medications and supplements must be turned in to the First-Aid Provider upon check-in. Prescription medications must be in their original packaging with instructions. Supplements must be clearly labeled with name and instructions.
